Jack Tretton, CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America said:
“PlayStation Move is the most recent example of how product innovation continues to provide our customers with new and exciting ways to enjoy our technology”He continued:
“We’ve shipped over one million units in the first month in North and Latin America. Retail demand is incredibly strong and we’re working hard to keep the product in stock. We believe consumers have already shown their preference for a precise, interactive game experience. We are on target to meet our end of year goals and expect sales to increase as our publishers and developers continue to update popular titles and introduce new games.”Michael Pachter admitted:
“It’s ahead of what I thought previously, I think that they are a lock to sell 3 to 4 million by Dec. 31, and a lock to hit more than 5 million by fiscal year end [March 31st 2011]” .
While Sony’s American numbers are the figures for controllers shipped to stores, it is likely that the majority of the controllers have been sold. John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for SCEA said:
“There’s minimal on-hand inventory in many stores, we’re basically shipping every unit we can make.”
